Professor Sangkyu Lee's research lab specializes in molecular toxicology and systems biology, focusing on the mechanisms of drug-induced and environmental toxicities, particularly in the liver and nervous system. The lab employs multi-omics approaches—integrating transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics—to dissect the pathophysiological mechanisms of diseases such as tuberculosis-related liver injury, perfluorooctanesulfonic acid (PFOS) neurotoxicity, and castration-resistant prostate cancer. A key focus is on post-translational modifications, including novel histone modifications like lysine acetoacetylation, and the role of metabolic enzymes such as SIRT5 in cancer progression. The lab also investigates drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics across species to support translational drug development.
