Professor Seungwon Kwon's research lab specializes in integrative and herbal medicine therapies, focusing on the clinical efficacy and safety of traditional herbal formulations in neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, and stroke-related conditions. The lab conducts rigorous clinical trials and meta-analyses to evaluate herbal medicine interventions, including novel applications like Oreongsan for chronic subdural hematoma and traditional prescriptions for COVID-19. A key research direction involves exploring the mechanisms and therapeutic potential of herbal medicine complexes in metabolic and neurological disorders, often in combination with conventional treatments. The lab also investigates complementary therapies such as acupuncture in patients on anticoagulant therapy, emphasizing patient safety and integrative healthcare approaches.
