Professor Takeru Nose's research spans polymer physics and biophysical chemistry, with a focus on the thermodynamic and dynamic behavior of polymer solutions, particularly phase separation processes and the conformational properties of polymers in solution. His work includes foundational studies on spinodal decomposition and scaling laws in polymer mixtures, as well as investigations into the static and dynamic properties of polystyrene in solvents near the θ condition. Later research extended into bioactive peptide design, particularly the role of aromatic amino acids in receptor activation, demonstrating a shift toward bioorganic applications. His lab has contributed significantly to understanding both fundamental polymer physics and structure-activity relationships in peptide signaling.

Abstract Characteristic features of the liquid-liquid phase separation process in polymer systems are presented, followed by a concise review of existing studies on phase-separation kinetics in polymer solutions and mixtures. Brief discussions have been made on two selective topics in this field, i.e., applicability of Cahn's linearized theory for spinodal decomposition to polymer mixtures and the scaling law in the late stage of phase separation. Abstract A novel driving scheme that enables displaying motion‐pictures on LCDs is proposed, and a prototype LCD has successfully been demonstrated with a fast response LC cell. In this driving scheme, scanning black stripes are inserted in displayed images so that impulsive emission like that of CRTs can be produced. It is found that the LCD has a markedly improved motion‐image quality compared with conventional LCDs.
