Professor Young Sun Ro's research lab specializes in emergency medicine and neurotrauma, focusing on improving outcomes for traumatic brain injury (TBI) through clinical decision rules, neuroprotective strategies, and preventive interventions. For clinically important TBI, the three cranial CT decision rules had much lower sensitivities in this population than the original published studies, while the specificities were comparable to those studies. The sensitivities for neurosurgical intervention, however, were comparable to the original studies. The NEXUS-II rule showed the highest reduction rate for CT scans compared to other rules, but failed to identify all undergoing neurosurgical intervention for their original inclusion cohort.
It appears that the administration of the MMP inhibitor ONO-4817 might be a new approach to the amelioration of PS.
A safety helmet is associated with prevention of intracranial injury resulting from work-related fall and the effect is preserved within 4 m height of fall. Therefore, wearing a safety helmet can be an intervention for protecting fall-related intracranial injury in the workplace.
