About the Lab
Professor B. Kyu Kim's research lab focuses on consumer behavior, particularly the psychological and perceptual factors influencing decision-making, such as future time perspective, time perception, and cognitive processes in purchasing. The lab explores how temporal cognition—especially non-linear time perception and future contraction—affects intertemporal choices, especially regarding durable goods and long-term service contracts. It also investigates the role of user experience in multimedia and converged network services, integrating psychological insights with technological applications. Additionally, the lab examines product evaluation dynamics in online retail settings, emphasizing wearer dependency, mental simulation, and information diagnosticity in shaping consumer preferences.
