Professor Beom Jae Lee's research lab focuses on gastrointestinal disorders, particularly irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and acute pancreatitis, with an emphasis on understanding the underlying pathophysiological mechanisms such as gut microbiota imbalance, low-grade inflammation, and brain-gut axis dysfunction. The lab also investigates novel therapeutic strategies, including pharmacological modulation of sphingolipid metabolism and endoscopic management of gastric bezoars. Upper gastrointestinal bleeding from duodenal vascular ectasia in a patient with cirrhosis

We report a cirrhotic patient with duodenal vascular ectasia and spontaneous bleeding. The bleeding was successfully controlled with argon plasma coagulation. Duodenal vascular ectasia may be a cause of upper gastrointestinal bleeding in patients with cirrhosis, and argon plasma coagulation may be effective and safe to achieve hemostasis of this lesion.
