About the Lab
Professor Byung Il Park's research lab specializes in international business and innovation management, with a strong focus on emerging market multinational corporations (EMNCs), foreign direct investment (FDI), and the strategic dynamics of technological innovation and knowledge acquisition. The lab investigates how ownership structure, absorptive capacity, dynamic capabilities, and organizational compatibility influence firm performance and learning in multinational settings. It also explores the theoretical and empirical foundations of cross-border mergers and acquisitions, particularly in the context of China and Korea, and examines the role of institutional and market factors in shaping innovation outcomes. The lab integrates institutional theory, resource-based view, and dynamic capabilities perspectives to develop new frameworks such as the OILL paradigm for understanding EMNC-driven FDI in developed economies.
