About the Lab
Professor Byungdo Song's research lab focuses on urological oncology and minimally invasive urological surgery, with a strong emphasis on the genitourinary microbiome, upper tract urothelial carcinoma, and benign prostatic hyperplasia. The lab investigates the role of microbial communities in urinary tract diseases, explores novel therapeutic strategies for bladder and prostate cancer using advanced 3D cell culture models, and evaluates surgical outcomes and learning curves for energy-based endoscopic procedures such as transurethral enucleation with bipolar energy. The research integrates clinical urology with molecular oncology and translational science to improve diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment of urological malignancies and benign conditions.
