About the Lab
Professor Chan-Geum Park's research lab focuses on improving patient outcomes through interdisciplinary health interventions, particularly in oncology and dermatology. The lab investigates the role of lifestyle factors such as exercise in cancer survivorship, emphasizing patient adherence and quality of life. It also explores the biological mechanisms of skin immunity, including antimicrobial peptides in eccrine glands, and contributes to clinical decision-making in pediatric anesthesia using physiological monitoring. Histopathological features favoring psoriasis include mounds of parakeratosis with neutrophils, spongiform micropustules of Kogoj, clubbed and evenly elongated rete ridges, and increased mitotic figures (≥6/high-powered field). Features indicating seborrheic dermatitis are follicular plugging, shoulder parakeratosis and prominent lymphocytic exocytosis. Immunohistochemistry was not helpful in differentiating psoriasis from seborrheic dermatitis.
