About the Lab

Professor Chang-Geon Han's research lab focuses on asset-based social policies, financial inclusion, and the longitudinal impacts of economic resources on individual and family well-being. The lab investigates how policies such as Individual Development Accounts (IDAs), wealth accumulation, and asset ownership influence financial stability, family functioning, and psychological outcomes like self-esteem and marital satisfaction across the life course. Research spans diverse populations in Asia, particularly in Korea, Singapore, and Taiwan, with a strong emphasis on equity, inclusiveness, and the dynamic interplay between economic resources and social outcomes.

SJR Q1Research on Aging

By combining stakeholder theory and activity theory, this study examines the dynamic relationships among wealth, volunteering, and self-esteem of older adults. This study uses latent growth curve modeling (LGCM) to capture the longitudinal patterns of self-esteem across four waves of data from the Americans’ Changing Lives (ACL) Study. As time-varying variables, the longitudinal trajectories of volunteering hours and self-esteem are analyzed. As time-invariant independent variables, the authors

Abstract Asian countries have implemented inclusive asset-based policies. Using a theoretical framework, this study evaluates the extent to which the asset-based policies in Korea, Singapore, and Taiwan are inclusive. The framework of ‘inclusiveness’ of asset-based policy has four components such as universal, progressive, life-long, and adequate. The study found that, compared to asset-based policies in Korea and Taiwan, those in Singapore have strengths in universality and life-long feature. H
