About the Lab
Professor Chang-Seob Eom's research lab focuses on viral pathogenesis, particularly emerging zoonotic paramyxoviruses and their reservoirs in wildlife, with an emphasis on molecular epidemiology and genetic characterization. The lab also investigates host-pathogen interactions, especially Helicobacter pylori adhesion mechanisms and the development of anti-adhesive therapeutics using natural polysaccharides. Additionally, the lab explores genetic disorders such as alpha1-antitrypsin deficiency, with a focus on molecular genetics and disease mechanisms. Ultrastructural analysis using transmission electron microscopy is a key methodological strength, applied across virology, gastroenterology, and ophthalmology research.
