About the Lab
Professor Changheui Jang's research lab specializes in advanced materials development with a focus on high-temperature oxidation resistance and functional coatings. The lab investigates high-strength FeCrAl alloys for use in advanced energy systems, particularly under supercritical CO₂ environments, emphasizing oxide scale formation and microstructural evolution. Another key research direction involves electrodeposition of chromium and nickel-based coatings, aiming to enhance their corrosion and wear resistance through fundamental understanding of deposition mechanisms and microstructure control. The lab integrates materials characterization, oxidation science, and surface engineering to develop durable, high-performance materials for energy and industrial applications.

15The oxidation behavior of three high-strength FeCrAl alloys was investigated in supercritical carbon dioxide environment at 650 °C. After exposure for 500 h, the weight gains of the FeCrAl alloys gradually decreased with increasing Al content. The oxide scales are primarily composed of α-Al2O3 and spinel oxides. With increasing Al content, the amount of α-Al2O3 increases and the C content decreased in the oxide scale and sub-scale matrix. Moreover, larger (Nb,Mo)C carbides formed in the sub-scal
Electrodeposition of chromium (Cr) and nickel (Ni) and their alloys have been subjects of interest for a long time. Owing to their special features such as high corrosion resistance, good wear resistance, lustrous nature etc., Cr and Ni electrodeposit continue to be the subject of investigation and further development, and improvements in their qualities and application remain one of the aims. This paper reviews the advances made so far in Cr and Ni electrodeposited coatings, with special emphas
