15OBJECTIVES: To evaluate the necessity of preserving the posterior branch of the great auricular nerve during parotidectomy. Osteoradionecrosis of the temporal bone is a very rare but potentially lethal complication of radiotherapy for head and neck or skull base tumors. Only two cases of osteoradionecrosis of the temporal bone complicating cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) otorrhea have been reported in the literature. This report describes a case of CSF otorrhea and osteoradionecrosis of the temporal bone in a patient with meningioma who was treated with tympanomastoid surgery and autologous fat obliteration in the mastoid.
This study was conducted to determine the effect of supplementation of Zn to fish meal diets on growth of Japanese eel. The feeding experiments were carried out using white fish meal diets supplemented with 0, 50, 100, and 200μ g/g of Zn as Zinc sulfate (ZnSO4•anhydrous). Telomerase activity was positive in 21/40 cholesteatomas (52.5%), but absent in the control group. Feeding study was conducted to determine the quantitative requrements of Al and Fe, and to examine the interrelationship with the other minerals in the Japanese eel Anguilla japonica.
