About the Lab
Professor Chihyung Jeon's research lab focuses on the socio-technical and ethical dimensions of emerging technologies, particularly artificial intelligence, robotics, and urban infrastructure. The lab investigates public perceptions, legal personhood, and regulatory frameworks for AI and autonomous systems, as well as the cultural and historical implications of technological projects such as highways and urban restoration. Through interdisciplinary approaches combining science and technology studies (STS), public opinion research, and historical analysis, the lab explores how technology shapes and is shaped by society, politics, and culture.

Abstract We analyze the use of Silbot – a “dementia-prevention robot” – in a regional health center in South Korea.
