About the Lab
Professor Cho, Ki Jong's research lab specializes in applied entomology and environmental toxicology, focusing on insect pest management in agricultural ecosystems and the physiological responses of aquatic organisms to environmental stressors. The lab investigates thrips ecology, including their behavior, population dynamics, and vector roles in plant virus transmission, particularly in vegetable crops. The spatial distribution of adult and immature Thrips palmi Karny on fall potato, Solanum tuberosum L., on Cheju Island, Korea, was studied over a 2-yr period by visually inspecting potato leaves. Studies were conducted in two commercial cucumber greenhouses to examine thrips' seasonal and spatial patterns on Cheju Island, Korea, in 1996. The goal of this study was to identify promising new biomarkers of cadmium by identifying differentially expressed proteins in Paronychiurus kimi after exposure to cadmium.
