About the Lab
Professor Dae Eun Ko's research lab focuses on translational biomedical research, particularly in the fields of cancer biology, surgical outcomes, and critical care medicine. The lab investigates molecular mechanisms underlying colorectal cancer through microRNA regulation and epigenetic modifications, while also exploring prognostic biomarkers such as inflammatory and nutritional markers in vascular and renal surgery. A key direction involves identifying preoperative laboratory parameters that predict postoperative complications and mortality in high-risk surgical populations, including patients with abdominal aortic aneurysms and end-stage renal disease. The lab integrates clinical data with molecular and biochemical analyses to improve patient risk stratification and outcomes.

Brugada syndrome is an arrhythmic syndrome characterized by right bundle branch block, ST segment elevation in the precordial lead (V1-V3), and sudden death caused by ventricular fibrillation, which is not effectively prevented by anti-arrhythmic drug therapy.
