About the Lab
Professor Dae-jin Song's research lab focuses on respiratory immunology and infectious diseases, with a primary emphasis on eosinophilic inflammation, airway hyperreactivity, and the pathogenesis of asthma and chronic cough. The lab investigates molecular mechanisms underlying allergic airway diseases, including the roles of specific receptors such as Siglec-F and CCR3 in eosinophil trafficking and tissue remodeling. Additionally, the lab explores zoonotic viral reservoirs in wildlife, particularly bats, to understand emerging infectious disease risks. Their work combines preclinical mouse models with molecular virology and immunological techniques to develop novel therapeutic and diagnostic strategies for chronic respiratory conditions.

Abstract Orosomucoid like 3 (ORMDL3), a gene localized to chromosome 17q21, has been linked in epidemiologic studies to childhood asthma and rhinovirus (RV) infections.
