About the Lab

Professor Do-Soon Yi's research lab investigates the neural mechanisms underlying visual perception, attention, learning, and memory, with a particular focus on how the brain represents and processes visual objects over time. The lab explores the interplay between top-down cognitive control and bottom-up sensory processing, especially in the context of perceptual stability, working memory, and decision-making under uncertainty. Using functional neuroimaging techniques such as fMRI, the lab examines how neural representations in the ventral visual stream and higher-order cortical regions are shaped by spatiotemporal continuity, attentional control, and memory suppression. The research also extends to the neural basis of pain modulation, particularly the effects of transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) on brain responses and functional connectivity in a sex-specific manner.
