About the Lab
Professor Dohoon Lee's research lab focuses on the interplay between family processes, socioeconomic inequality, and child development across the life course. Using longitudinal data from major national studies such as Add Health and the Fragile Families and Child Wellbeing Study, the lab investigates how family structure, immigrant generation, economic conditions, and genetic factors shape educational attainment, health outcomes, and psychological well-being in children and adolescents. Key research directions include intergenerational mobility, the role of social and cultural capital in educational achievement, and the dynamic, reciprocal relationships between socioeconomic status and child health. The lab also examines how macroeconomic shocks—such as the Great Recession—affect parenting behaviors and child development, often integrating biological factors like genetic variation into social science models.
