About the Lab
Professor Gon Ho Song's research lab specializes in bioinspired surface chemistry and advanced materials, focusing on developing sustainable and functional coatings inspired by natural adhesion mechanisms—particularly those of marine mussels. The lab pioneers substrate-independent, spray-based coating technologies using mussel-inspired polymers, enabling scalable, industrial-applicable surface modifications with multifunctionality, including long-term antibacterial properties through nanoparticle integration. 7Abstract Although mussel‐inspired surface chemistry is one of the most utilized strategies for surface functionalization, its practical and/or industrial applications are rather limited, because dip coating can only treat small surface areas and is dependent on the coating vessel.
