About the Lab

Professor Gwang Bo Park's research lab specializes in interventional radiology, with a primary focus on endovascular and percutaneous interventions for vascular and biliary pathologies. The lab investigates minimally invasive techniques such as stent placement, balloon angioplasty, and embolization to treat complex vascular stenoses, including portal vein stenosis after liver transplantation and malignant obstructions of the biliary and gastrointestinal tracts. A key emphasis is on improving long-term outcomes and managing rare but severe complications, such as delayed hemorrhage after stent placement. The lab combines clinical interventional radiology with hemodynamic and radiologic evaluation to optimize patient care and therapeutic strategies.

Iliac arterial stent placement is a safe treatment with favorable long term patency. Lesions in the EIA or lesions in both the EIA and CIA, poor run off vessels and a stent having the same or a larger diameter than 10 mm were the poor prognostic factors for long term stent patency.

Percutaneous Angioplasty of Portal Vein Stenosis that Complicates Liver Transplantation: The Mid-Term Therapeutic Results
박광보, 주성욱, 도영수, 신성욱, 조성기, 주인욱

Objective: We wanted to valuate the mid-term therapeutic results of percutaneous transhepatic balloon angioplasty for portal vein stenosis after liver transplantation. Materials and Methods: From May 1996 to Feb 2005, 420 patients underwent liver transplantation. Percutaneous transhepatic angioplasty of the portal vein was attempted in six patients. The patients presented with the clinical signs and symptoms of portal venous hypertension or they were identified by surveillance doppler ultrasonog

SJR Q3Acta Radiologica

BACKGROUND: Life-threatening, delayed hemorrhage after self-expandable metallic stent (SEMS) insertion for malignant biliary obstruction is very rare. Clinical manifestations, radiologic characteristics, treatment, and prognosis of this complication are not well-known. PURPOSE: To present the clinical manifestations, radiologic findings, and endovascular treatment of life-threatening, delayed hemorrhage secondary to SEMS placement. MATERIAL AND METHODS: A total of six patients (five men and one
