About the Lab

Professor Haeng Nam Lee's research lab specializes in clinical epidemiology and health services research, with a focus on improving patient outcomes in critical care settings. The lab investigates predictive models such as the APACHE II score to assess ICU mortality and readmission risks, aiming to enhance post-ICU care planning. It also explores innovative clinical trial methodologies, particularly adaptive designs, to optimize trial efficiency and effectiveness in medical research. The lab integrates data-driven approaches to support evidence-based decision-making in intensive care and health system improvement.

SJR Q2Anaesthesia and Intensive CareOA

In this study, we evaluated the efficacy of the discharge Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation (APACHE) II score in predicting post-intensive care unit (ICU) mortality and ICU readmission during the same hospitalisation in a surgical ICU. Of 1190 patients who were admitted to the ICU and stayed >48 hours between October 2007 and March 2010, 23 (1.9%) died and 86 (7.2%) were readmitted after initial ICU discharge, with 26 (3.0%) admitted within 48 hours. The area under the receiver oper

SJR Q3Translational and Clinical PharmacologyOA

An adaptive design is a clinical trial design that allows for modification of a structured plan in a clinical trial based on data accumulated during pre-planned interim analyses. This flexible approach to clinical trial design improves the success rate of clinical trials while reducing time, cost, and sample size compared to conventional methods. The purpose of this study is to identify the current status of adaptive design and present key considerations for planning an appropriate adaptive desi
