About the Lab
Professor Hee-Jung Lee's research lab specializes in the design, synthesis, and functionalization of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and coordination polymers (CPs) for advanced materials applications. The lab focuses on controlling the morphology, porosity, and composition of MOFs and their derived materials—such as hollow porous carbons and magnetic porous carbons—through precise synthetic strategies like core-shell templating, solvothermal synthesis, and pyrolysis. Key research directions include the development of multifunctional hybrid nanostructures with tailored gas adsorption, catalytic, and pollutant removal properties.

15The conjunction of porous ZIF-8 with polystyrene spheres is demonstrated to induce the formation of polystyrene@ZIF-8 core-shell structures. A subsequent etching process on polystyrene@ZIF-8 core-shells to remove polystyrene cores results in a unique hollow ZIF-8.
Nano- and micro-composites comprised of porous carbon and magnetic particles are prepared by one-step pyrolysis of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs). The porosity and composition of resulting magnetic porous carbons are facilely regulated by altering the pyrolysis temperature and changing the organic building blocks incorporated within the initial MOFs.
Three coordination polymer particles (CPPs) are selectively synthesized using the solvothermal method. All three CPPs are prepared from the same building blocks. However, they form different morphologies, such as elongated hexagons, ellipsoids, and rods. Gas-adsorption measurements on N2, CO2, and H2 reveal that diversely shaped CPPs have different gas-adsorption properties, even though they have the same chemical compositions. Detailed facts of importance to specialist readers are published as
The ability to fabricate multicompositional hybrid materials in a precise and controlled manner is one of the primary goals of modern materials science research. In addition, an understanding of the phenomena associated with the systematic growth of one material on another can facilitate the evolution of multifunctional hybrid materials. Here, we demonstrate precise manipulation of the isotropic and/or anisotropic nanoscale growth of various coordination polymers (CPs) to obtain heterocompositio
Well-dispersed hollow porous carbon (HPC) spheres are prepared by the pyrolysis of polystyrene@ZIF-8 core-shell microspheres. The resulting HPC spheres have high surface areas and show tremendous methylene blue adsorption ability due to the lack of agglomeration, excellent dispersion, and high surface-to-volume ratio.
Compositions as well as morphologies and structures of particles are vital factors that define their properties and applications. However, the morphology and structure changes associated with the composition change of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are barely studied. Herein, we report the morphology and structure changes of MOF particles associated with the ratio of two organic linkers incorporated within MOF particles, when they are constructed from the reactions of In(NO3)3 in the presence o
ABSTRACTIt is very important for marketers to manage brand personalities effectively. As brand personalities affect a consumer-brand relationship and attitude related to the brand positively or negatively. A brand personality can project five attributes : sincere, exciting, strong, sophistication, cute.In this research, we investigate which brand personalities affect consumer-brand relationships and brand attitudes. According to this research, sincere and cute brand personalities affect consumer
The conjugation of Eu(3+)-doped coordination polymers constructed from Gd(3+) and isophthalic acid (H(2)IPA) with silica particles is investigated for the production of luminescent microspheres. A series of doping ratio-controlled silica@coordination polymer core-shell spheres is easily synthesized by altering the amounts of metal nodes used in the reactions, where the ratios of Gd(3+) and Eu(3+) are 10:0 (1a), 9:1 (1b), 8:2 (1c), 7:3 (1d), 5:5 (1e), and 0:10 (1f). The formation of monodisperse
Abstract The aim of this study is to examine three types of trust in services provided in the sharing economy toward the goal of increasing consumers’ intention to use a ride‐sharing service. The three trust factors for sharing services are trust in drivers, trust in users, and trust in platforms. It is hypothesized that related to consumers’ consumption lifestyles would influence their trust in a sharing service; in particular, previous researchers found that anti‐consumption influenced consume
A distinctive brand personality can create unique and favorable associations in a consumer’s memory and thus enhance brand equity. Our research interest lies in the development of a city brand personality scale that can be applied to destination marketing in the Korean context. Based on Aaker’s (1997) Brand Personality Scale (BPS), we have customized this scale to be useable in the context of the South Korean market. In this research, we have found five dimensions of city brand personality: “sin

Narrowly-dispersed fluorescent octahedron and rounded-octahedron coordination polymer particles (CPPs) have been synthesized from the solvothermal reaction of In(NO3)3·xH2O and 2,6-bis[(4-carboxyanilino)carbonyl]pyridine. The shape and size of the resulting CPPs were dependent on the amount of solvent (and thus the concentration of reactants) used in the reaction. Under poor solubility conditions with only a small amount of DMF, the formation of coordination polymers proceeds quickly and the par
