About the Lab
Professor Heung Seok Seo's research lab specializes in medical imaging and interventional radiology, with a focus on improving diagnostic accuracy in thoracic and abdominal radiology. The lab investigates complex anatomical variants—such as high-riding pericardial recesses—and their differentiation from pathological conditions using advanced CT and MRI techniques. It also explores post-procedural complications, including post-ablation syndrome after radiofrequency ablation, and rare congenital anomalies like esophageal tubular duplication. The lab emphasizes the integration of radiological, endoscopic, and pathological findings to enhance preoperative diagnosis and patient management.

15OBJECTIVE. We recently observed patients in whom the superior pericardial recess extended cephalad ("high-riding") into the right paratracheal region. In these patients, differentiation from mediastinal lymphadenopathy or mass was difficult. The purpose of this study was to assess the prevalence and CT features of the high-riding superior pericardial recess. CONCLUSION. Narrow-collimation CT with multiplanar reformations was useful for confidently diagnosing a high-riding superior pericardial re
New lung lesions that develop during medication for tuberculous pleural effusion should be considered a transient worsening that ultimately improves with continuation of medication.
Esophageal tubular duplication is a rare congenital anomaly. We experienced a patient with esophageal tubular duplication who presented with a swallowing difficulty which was aggravated after a gastrofiberscopic examination. Preoperative diagnosis was intramural hematoma of the esophagus due to trauma caused by endoscopy. Surgical specimen revealed that hematoma was located within a duplicated lumen of the esophagus. The radiologic and endoscopic findings are discussed in correlation with its pa
Computed tomographic (CT) findings are described in three diabetic patients with central airways mucormycosis. The CT findings of the tracheobronchial mucormycosis include enhancing areas of mural thickening (n = 3), luminal narrowing (n = 3), intramural air (n = 3), low-attenuation nonenhancing bronchial wall thickening (n = 2), and bronchonodal fistula formation (n = 1). These CT features in a diabetic patient should raise a high index of suspicion for tracheobronchial mucormycosis, particular

The BEV with high efficiency depends on the temperature of the electric components. Hence it is important to study the effect of the cooling system in electric vehicle in order to optimize efficiency and performance. In this study, we present a 1-D vehicle thermal managem
A renal mass showing no invasion of the pararenal fascia, a distinct margin between tumor and remaining kidney, vascular patency, and large ring-like calcification detected on magnetic resonance imaging may suggest the diagnosis of renal oncocytoma.
Purpose: To evaluate post-ablation syndrome after radiofrequency thermal ablation of malignant hepatic tumors. Materials and Methods: Forty-two patients with primary (n=29) or secondary (n=13) hepatic tumors under-went radiofrequency thermal ablation. A total of 65 nodules ranging in size from 1.1 to 5.0 (mean, 3.1) cm were treated percutaneously using a 50W RF generator with 15G expandable needle electrodes. We retrospec-tively evaluated the spectrum of post-ablation syndrome including pain, fe

The direct cooling system of a conventional inverter is designed to supply coolant along the direction in which the heating element such as Si-chip is disposed and discharge coolant to the opposite side. In case of the inverter, the higher the output is, the larger tempe
Abstract : This study was performed to measure the level of correct knowledge of housewives about tuberculosis and to identify some variables which influenced them. A questionnaire survey was conducted on the well-baby clinic consumers of 25 community health centers in Seoul, during the periods of 2005. 6. 1.~2005. 6. 30. A total 118 data were analyzed with SPSS 12.0. 1. The average age of housewives was 33.82 and their average number of children was 1.8. 2. The average item of their correct kno
BACKGROUND: Bronchial artery embolization has been established as an effective means to control hemoptysis, especially in patients with decreased pulmonary function and those with advanced chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. We evaluated the effect of arterial embolization in immediate control of massive hemoptysis and investigated the clinical and angiographic characteristics and the course of patients with reccurrent hemoptysis after initial succeseful embolization. Another purpose of this
