About the Lab

Professor Ho-Il Yang's research lab specializes in advanced functional materials and additive manufacturing for biomedical and structural applications. The lab focuses on developing flexible, ultrasensitive piezoelectric and temperature sensors using electrospun nanofibers and 2D materials like graphene, with applications in wearable health monitoring. Key research directions include bioinspired scaffolds for tissue engineering, biocompatible and mechanically robust implants using PEEK/TiO₂ and hydroxyapatite coatings, and hybrid bioprinting strategies to enhance the structural integrity of hydrogel-based constructs. The lab also pioneers laser-based additive manufacturing of high-performance metallic components with tailored microstructures for extreme environments, such as marine applications.
