About the Lab
Professor Hoi-soo Yoon's research lab specializes in pediatric hematology and oncology, with a strong focus on rare and complex hematologic disorders such as hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH), congenital and acquired coagulopathies, and pediatric hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). The lab conducts nationwide retrospective studies to understand the clinical, genetic, and virologic factors influencing disease outcomes in children, particularly in the context of viral infections (e.g., EBV, CMV) and immune dysregulation. The objective of this study is to analyze the major causes of abnormal findings seen in the preoperative coagulation tests of asymptomatic pediatric patients and to discuss the usefulness of coagulation tests prior to minor surgery.
