Professor Hoseong Sohn's research lab specializes in biomedical engineering and regenerative medicine, focusing on cardiac repair, tissue engineering, and implantable medical devices. Key research directions include the development of injectable hydrogels for myocardial regeneration, biocompatible tissue adhesives for surgical applications, and wearable ECG systems for early detection of cardiac arrhythmias. Early diagnosis and aggressive surgical drainage are very important for successful treatment of descending necrotizing mediastinitis (DNM). However, the surgical techniques used for DNM treatment remain controversial. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) and cervical drainage for the management of DNM.
