About the Lab

Professor Hyeon-A Hwang's research lab focuses on health policy and public health interventions, with a strong emphasis on emergency medical care, poisoning management, and the socio-medical impacts of public health policies. The lab conducts systematic reviews and observational studies to evaluate healthcare outcomes, including the effectiveness of poison control centers and predictors of poor outcomes in critical conditions such as out-of-hospital cardiac arrest and aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage. The research also extends to health policy analysis, particularly in the context of educational policy reforms during public health crises like the COVID-19 pandemic. The lab integrates clinical data with policy analysis to inform evidence-based decision-making in healthcare systems.

A significant number of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) patients experience refractory ventricular arrhythmias despite prompt defibrillation. These refractory arrhythmias are associated with poor clinical outcomes, underscoring the need to investigate improved management strategies. Therefore, this study aimed to identify factors associated with shock-refractory OHCA during the prehospital stages of resuscitation. This multicenter observational study included adult OHCA patients (age ≥ 18

In reality, although business transfer and asset transfer perform similar economic roles, asset transfer has been more widely used than business transfer because the former only requires a resolution by the board of directors while the latter, in principle, requires a special resolution at a shareholders meeting under the Commercial Code. Especially, since risks arose from such unsettled concepts as “materiality” and “criticality” in the cases of business acquisition and transfer, corporations a

Objective: Aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) is a common emergency condition, resulting in high morbidity and mortality. The delta neutrophil index (DNI), which reflects the fraction of circulating immature granulocytes, is significantly associated with systemic inflammation after infection or sterile injury. Aneurysmal SAH also leads to systemic inflammation after a brain injury. This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between the DNI and poor neurologic outcomes in patients with a
