Professor Hyeon-Joon Jo's research lab specializes in biomedical and clinical applications of advanced materials and interventional techniques, with a focus on improving diagnostic accuracy and therapeutic outcomes in neurovascular and maxillofacial disorders. The lab investigates functional coatings for nanomaterials—particularly zinc oxide nanoparticles—for cosmetic and dermatological applications, while also exploring minimally invasive surgical and endovascular interventions for cerebrovascular diseases such as ischemic stroke and intracranial aneurysms. A key emphasis is placed on quantitative perfusion imaging using CTP and RAPID software to evaluate hemodynamic changes and clinical outcomes following extracranial-to-intracranial bypass surgery. The lab also examines neurosensory preservation in oral and maxillofacial surgery, particularly in relation to conservative tumor treatments.
