본 연구는 미술 중심 통합문화예술교육이 유아의 창의성과 사회성에 미치는 영향을 검증하는 데 그 목적이 있었다. 이를 위해 서울시 소재 병설 유치원에서 만 6세 아동 44명을 모집하여 이를 두 집단으로 나누고, 한 집단(실험집단)에는 본 연구를 위해 개발한 10회기 미술 중심 통합문화예술교육활동을 제공하였고 다른 한 집단(비교집단)에는 해당 시간만큼 자유선택놀이 시간을 갖도록 하였다. 본 연구에서 시행된 미술 중심 통합문화예술교육활동은 서울문화재단(2010)이 학령기 아동들을 위해 개발한 시각예술분야 통합문화예술교육 프로그램을 유아의 발달 단계에 맞추어 조정한 것으로, 각 예술 영역의 특징을 부각시키고 놀이적 요소의 비중을 강화시킨 특징을 가지고 있었다. 활동의 효과를 검증하기 위해 처치 전과 후의 창의성과 사회성 수준을 측정하였고, 실험-비교집단 간 그리고 처치 전-후 간 점수를 비교하였다. 결과, 실험집단은 모든 창의성과 사회성 하위차원들에서 처치 전에 비해 처치 후 유의미한 점수
