About the Lab

Professor Hyungdo Kim's research lab specializes in theoretical particle physics and quantum field theory, with a focus on supersymmetry, grand unification, and physics beyond the Standard Model. Key research directions include gauge mediation of supersymmetry breaking, the μ-problem and Bμ-term generation, seesaw mechanisms (including bosonic seesaw), flavor physics, and anomalies in B-meson decays. The lab also investigates higher-dimensional theories, such as 5D models with Scherk-Schwarz breaking, and the interplay between gravity, scalar fields, and spacetime singularities in anti-de Sitter space.

Natural μ and Bμ in gauge mediation
Gian F. Giudice, Hyung Do Kim, Riccardo Rattazzi
SJR Q1Physics Letters BOA

We propose a natural solution to the μ problem in gauge mediation. It relies on the logarithmic dependence of the effective Kähler potential on the messenger threshold superfield X. Thus, μ and Bμ naturally arise at one and two loops, respectively. Moreover B has the same phase as the gaugino mass and the supersymmetric CP problem is solved as well.

Recent precise measurements of $\mathrm{sin}2\ensuremath{\beta}$ from the B factories (BABAR and BELLE) and a better known strange quark mass from lattice QCD make precision tests of predictive texture models possible. The models tested include those hierarchical N-zero textures classified by Ramond, Roberts, and Ross, as well as any other hierarchical matrix Ans\"atze with nonzero $12=21$ and vanishing 11 and 13 elements. We calculate the maximally allowed value for $\mathrm{sin}2\ensuremath{\b

Electroweak symmetry breaking from supersymmetry breaking with a bosonic seesaw mechanism
Hyung Do Kim
Physical review. D. Particles, fields, gravitation, and cosmology/Physical review. D, Particles, fields, gravitation, and cosmologyOA

We introduce the idea of bosonic seesaw mechanism in analogy with the seesaw mechanism. Bosonic seesaw is a new symmetry breaking mechanism, and we apply it to explain electroweak symmetry breaking as an inevitable consequence of supersymmetry breaking. The breaking of electroweak symmetry occurs at tree level once supersymmetry is broken. Absence of color/charge breaking in this model is related to doublet-triplet splitting in the grand unified theory. An extension of the minimal supersymmetric

D0 dimuon charge asymmetry fromBssystem withZ′couplings and the recent LHCb result
Hyung Do Kim, Sung-Gi Kim, Seodong Shin
Physical review. D. Particles, fields, gravitation, and cosmology/Physical review. D, Particles, fields, gravitation, and cosmologyOA

The D0 collaboration has announced the observation of the like-sign dimuon charge asymmetry since 2010, which has a difference of more than $3\ensuremath{\sigma}$ from the Standard Model prediction. One of the promising explanations is considering the existence of flavor-changing ${Z}^{\ensuremath{'}}$ couplings to the $b$ and $s$ quarks which can contribute to the off-diagonal decay width in the ${B}_{s}\ensuremath{-}{\overline{B}}_{s}$ mixing. Model construction is highly constrained by the re

Softness of Scherk-Schwarz supersymmetry breaking

Physical review. D. Particles, fields, gravitation, and cosmology/Physical review. D. Particles and fieldsOA

We investigate how the mass correction appears in 5D with Scherk-Schwarz compactification and clarify whether or not the Kaluza-Klein regularization is a reliable method. In the extremely sharp cutoff limit of the 5D regulator which preserves 5D Lorentz invariance, we prove that the one loop correction to the mass does not depend on the ultraviolet physics for the Scherk-Schwarz breaking of supersymmetry. This is a unique property of Scherk-Schwarz breaking which is given by the boundary conditi

Criterion for admissible singularities in a brane world
Hyung Do Kim
Physical review. D. Particles, fields, gravitation, and cosmology/Physical review. D. Particles and fieldsOA

When gravity couples to scalar fields in anti--de Sitter (AdS) space, the geometry becomes non-AdS and develops singularities generally. We propose a criterion that the singularity is physically admissible if the integral of the on-shell Lagrangian density over the finite range is finite everywhere. For all classes of the singularities studied here, the criterion suggested in this paper coincides with an independent proposal made by Gubser that the potential should be bounded from above in the s

To be (finite) or not to be, that is the question "Kaluza-Klein contribution to the Higgs mass"
Hyung Do Kim
ArXiv.orgOA

Recently five dimensional supersymmetric models with a Scherk-Schwarz supersymmetry breaking and a localized superpotential on a fixed-point have been constructed to yield a definite prediction for the Higgs mass. We examine this issue in detail and show that the finite one loop correction and the definite prediction for the Higgs mass are just a consequence of a special "Kaluza-Klein regularization" scheme.

중소기업 생산성 향상을 위한 XBRL 기반 지속가능성 보고 방안 연구
김형도, 최선, 김기철

This paper presents how to develop an environmental reporting guideline in the digital format using XBRL(eXtensible Business Reporting Language), which is an XML language specialized in business reporting. XBRL allows for writing business reports in a consistent and flexible manner by defining concepts and relationships. The Korean environmental reporting guideline is used as a reference example for demonstrating the potential of a XBRL taxonomy for the digital-format guideline. Based on the exp
