About the Lab
Professor Jaung, Jae Yun's research lab specializes in the design and synthesis of novel heterocyclic compounds with unique electronic and optical properties, particularly focusing on pyrazine-based macrocycles and tetracyano-dipyrazinopyrazines. The lab investigates their intramolecular charge-transfer characteristics, fluorescence behavior in solution and solid states, and their potential applications in organic optoelectronics and electroluminescent devices. Additionally, the lab explores the development of functional materials such as tetrapyrazinoporphyrazines for sensing and catalytic applications through strategic molecular engineering to control aggregation and enhance performance.

15Abstract Base catalized intermolecular cyclization of 2‐amino‐3‐chloro‐5,6‐dicyanopyrazines gave 5,10‐disubsti‐tuted‐2,3,7,8‐tetracyano‐5,10‐dihydrodipyrazino[2,3‐ b :2′,3′‐c]pyrazines 11–20. These compounds have rather small molecular size but have strong intramolecular charge‐transfer chromophoric system. They have strong fluorescence in solution and some have fluorescence even in the solid state which are very important to evaluate their electroluminescence property as an emitter for electrol
Background: Sarcopenia is associated with a poor prognosis in patients with liver cirrhosis. However, it is not known whether the rate of skeletal muscle depletion is also associated with a poor prognosis. We investigated the prognostic impact of the rate of skeletal muscle depletion in patients with liver cirrhosis. Methods: We included retrospectively all patients with liver cirrhosis who underwent both multiple computed tomography scans and hepatic venous pressure gradient (HVPG) measurements
The intermolecular 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reaction of azomethine ylides with carbon-carbon double or triple bonds represents an efficient and convergent method for the construction of heterocyclic structures containing a single nitrogen atom.1 One of the most frequently employed methods for the generation of azomethine ylide involves the thermolysis of an aziridine.2However, the ring opening of aziridines to azomethine ylides is limited to those having substituent groups capable of stabilizin
The aim of this study was to validate a new paper and pencil test battery to diagnose minimal hepatic encephalopathy (MHE) in Korea. A new paper and pencil test battery was composed of number connection test-A (NCT-A), number connection test-B (NCT-B), digit span test (DST), and symbol digit modality test (SDMT). The norm of the new test was based on 315 healthy individuals between the ages of 20 and 70 years old. Another 63 healthy subjects (n = 31) and cirrhosis patients (n = 32) were included
PythDock is a heuristic docking program that uses Python programming language with a simple scoring function and a population based search engine. The scoring function considers electrostatic and dispersion/repulsion terms. The search engine utilizes a particle swarm optimization algorithm. A grid potential map is generated using the shape information of a bound ligand within the active site. Therefore, the searching area is more relevant to the ligand binding. To evaluate the docking performanc
