About the Lab

Professor Jeong Gi-heon's research lab focuses on the intersection of dermatology, molecular biology, and endocrinology, with a strong emphasis on understanding the pathophysiology of skin disorders and hormonal regulation. Key research directions include the role of oxidative stress and genetic factors in vitiligo, the molecular mechanisms underlying osteoma cutis and related syndromes such as pseudohypoparathyroidism, and the neuroendocrine regulation of pituitary hormone secretion, particularly in stress responses. The lab employs advanced imaging and molecular techniques, including atomic force microscopy and genetic association studies, to explore structural and functional alterations in human tissues.

It often causes an unusual clinical and histological feature that defies diagnosis until self-inoculation or mechanical trauma is suspected and proved.
