About the Lab

Professor Jeong Yoon's research lab focuses on reproductive medicine and maternal health, with a strong emphasis on improving assisted reproductive technologies (ART) through molecular and cellular interventions. Key research directions include understanding the impact of aging on oocyte quality and embryo development, exploring metabolic and signaling modulators such as DCA and GM-CSF to enhance fertility outcomes, and optimizing in vitro culture systems for human IVF-ET. The lab also engages in clinical epidemiology and patient safety research, particularly in transfusion medicine and serosurveillance during infectious disease outbreaks.

Serosurveillance studies reveal the actual disease burden and herd immunity level in the population. In Seoul, Korea, a cross-sectional investigation showed 0.07% anti-severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 antibody seropositivity among 1,500 outpatients of the university hospitals. Low seroprevalence reflects well-implemented social distancing. Serosurveillance should be repeated as the pandemic progresses.

The findings that a higher proportion of MI-arrested oocytes progressed to MII after fertilization and that the MI-to-MII transition was blocked by Ca<sup>2</sup><sup>+</sup> chelator treatments before fertilization indicate that the maturation of MI oocytes to MII oocytes is associated with intracellular Ca<sup>2</sup><sup>+</sup> oscillations driven by fertilization.

수혈민감반응 중 실제 수혈이상반응의 보고 비율과 각 혈액제제에 따른 수혈이상반응 분석

배경: 수혈이상반응(transfusion-related adverse reaction)은 수혈 중이나 후에 환자의 이상 징후혹은 증상에 의하여 인지된다. 수혈관련 징후 및 증상으로 보고된 예 중 실제 수혈이상반응으로진단된 예를 분석하여 실제 수혈이상반응의 빈도를 확인하고, 이를 통하여 본원의 수혈이상반응 보고체계를 점검하였다. 방법: 2015년 1월부터 6월까지 시행된 수혈건수는 총 4,234건이며 사용된 혈액제제의 총 단위는 18,191단위였다. 의료진은 환자가 수혈 받는동안 수혈 5분 후, 수혈 중, 수혈 종료 시로 나눠최소 3차례에 걸쳐 수혈관련 징후 및 증상을 호소하는지 감시하여 전산으로 혈액은행에 보고하였다. 진단검사의학과 담당전문의가 보고된 예를전산의무기록을 통해 조사하고, 수혈이상반응의교과서 진단기준에 합당한지 검토하여, 실제 수혈이상반응의 빈도를 분석하였다. 또한, 혈액제제별 수혈관련 징후 및 증상 및 수혈이상반응의빈도 등을 분석하였다. 결과: 수혈관련 징후 및 증상으

RHD (c.1227G>A) DEL형 적혈구 수혈에 의한 항-D항체 발생1예

RhD 혈액형은 ABO 혈액형 다음으로 강한 면역원성을 가지며 신생아 용혈성 질환, 심각한 용혈수혈이상반응 등을 유발할 수 있어 임상적으로중요한 혈액형이다. DEL형은 기본적인 혈청학적검사에서는 검출되지 않으며, 흡착-해리 시험 없이는 D 음성으로 판정되고 RHD 유전자 분석에서만 검출되는 항원이 극소량으로 존재하는 D 변이형이다. DEL형 중 RHD (c.1227G>A) 대립유전자형은 한국에서 가장 흔하다. DEL형은 항-D항체를 생성하기에는 매우 적은 D항원수를 가지고있다고 여겨 왔으나 이들의 혈액이 D 음성환자에게 수혈시 항-D항체가 생긴 증례가 일부 보고된 바 있다. 이에 저자들은 RhD 음성 환자에서RHD (c.1227G>A) 대립유전자형의 DEL형 적혈구를 수혈 받은 후 항-D항체가 생성된 1예를 혈청학적 검사 및 유전자분석을 통하여 확인하였기에 보고하는 바이다.

Neonatal alloimmune thrombocytopenia (NAIT) occurs when a mother is immunized against fetal platelet-specific alloantigen and rarely human leukocyte antigen (HLA) inherited from the father.
