Professor Ji-Eun Jeon's research lab focuses on the interplay between metabolic dysregulation, body composition, and long-term complications in diabetes and cardiometabolic diseases. Key research directions include the role of glycemic variability—both short- and long-term—in the development of diabetic cardiovascular autonomic neuropathy, the impact of serum albumin and sarcopenia on prediabetes and diabetes progression, and the interaction between low muscle mass and abdominal obesity in driving metabolic and cardiovascular risk. The lab employs longitudinal, population-based studies with advanced monitoring techniques such as continuous glucose monitoring and bioelectrical impedance analysis to identify early biomarkers and risk modifiers.

BACKGROUND: The purpose of this study was to establish the association between continuous glucose monitoring (CGM)-defined glycaemic variability (GV) and cardiovascular autonomic neuropathy (CAN) in type 1 diabetes independent of mean glucose and to examine the relative contribution of each internationally standardized CGM parameter to this association.
