About the Lab
Professor Ji-Hoon Kang's research lab focuses on advanced semiconductor materials and biomedical imaging, with a strong emphasis on microLED technology and liver disease diagnostics. The lab investigates size-dependent optoelectronic properties in InGaN microLEDs, particularly the impact of surface nonradiative recombination at sub-5 μm scales, using standard fabrication techniques. In parallel, the lab conducts clinical and translational research in liver imaging, including the application of LI-RADS criteria in MRI, diagnostic yield of US-guided biopsies for hepatic lesions, and the association between nonalcoholic fatty liver disease and gallstone formation in nonobese populations. These diverse yet interconnected research directions highlight the lab’s expertise in both nanoscale optoelectronics and clinical radiology applications.
