About the Lab
Professor Ji Hyung Kim's research lab focuses on translational biomedical research, with a strong emphasis on understanding the pathophysiology of rare metabolic disorders, inflammatory bowel diseases, and cancer. The lab investigates the interplay between gut microbiota, immune regulation, and epithelial barrier function, particularly in conditions like X-linked adrenoleukodystrophy, colitis, and non-small cell lung cancer. Using both preclinical models and real-world clinical data, the lab explores novel therapeutic strategies, including microbiota modulation and targeted therapies. A recurring theme is the impact of environmental and pharmacological factors—such as proton pump inhibitors—on disease progression and treatment outcomes.
