Why did Korea’s self-employed voters express their disapproval of the Democratic Party in the 2012 presidential election? This paper argues that this distrust was historically shaped. It originated from the failure of the former Democratic governments (1998–2007) in flexicurity reforms, which jeopardized the livelihoods of the self-employed.

이번 20대 대통령선거의 한 가지 주목할 만한 특징은 거대 양당 모두 정치담론을 통해 유권자들을 동원하고 지지를 확보하는 전략을 구사하기보다 이들을 낱개 공약에 호응하는 개별 소비자로 간주하는 세일즈 전략으로 일관했다는 점이다. 일각에서는 한국정치의 5년 주기 권력독점 구조나 미디어의 영향력 증대로 인해 장기적 안목의 정치담론이 만들어질 기회가 사라지고 있다는 해석을 제시한다. 반면 이 글은 칼 폴라니의 정치사회학적 분석틀을 활용하여 신자유주의 상황에서 한국 국가-사회관계의 변화 궤적을 추적하고, 이번 선거에서 정치담론이 그저 사라진 것이 아니라 정치행위자에 의해 “삭제”(undoing)되었을 가능성을 제기한다. 문재인 정권은 경제사회적 위기 완화를 통해 정당성을 도모하고자 다양한 시장개혁정책을 실시하였으나, 잘못 디자인된 주요 개혁정책으로 인해 사회가 신자유주의 질서에 적응하기 위해 어렵게 구축해 온 생존방식마저 위협받는 결과가 초래되었다. 이로 인해 국가의 시장 개입을 반대하는

본 논문은 최근 한국의 경험에 근거하여 “자기희생적 저항”을 새로운 노동투쟁의 레파토리로 제시하고 그 개념을 정교화한다. 자기희생적 저항이란 작업장에서의 부당한 처우에 저항하는 불안정노동자들의 개별적 또는 소규모 투쟁으로, 의도적으로 스스로의 신체 또는 정신에 고통을 가함으로써 공공연히 동정을 유발하기 위한 저항행위를 지칭한다. 자기희생적 저항에 참여하는 노동자들은 기존 노동투쟁의 레파토리에서와 달리 조직화되어 있지 않은 경우가 대다수이며, 이들은 다양한 극단적 행위를 통해 사측의 부당한 고용정책과 관행을 고발함으로써 시민사회로부터 도덕적 공감과 정치적 지지를 획득하고자 한다. 본 논문은 이와 같은 자기희생적 저항이라는 새로운 레파토리가 한국의 과격한 고용합리화 조치에서 기인한다고 주장한다. 산업 전반에 걸쳐 상시적으로 고용합리화 조치가 시행되는 상황임에도 불구하고 노동자들에게는 이러한 조치에 대한 불만을 해결할 수 있는 정치적, 제도적 메커니즘이 존재하지 않는 상황에서 많은 불안정
