About the Lab
Professor Ji-Won Yu's research lab specializes in translational biomedical research with a focus on the intersection of environmental exposures, systemic diseases, and organ-specific pathologies, particularly in the kidney and nervous system. The lab investigates the long-term impacts of environmental factors—such as air pollution and blast exposure—on chronic diseases like glomerulonephritis and traumatic brain injury, while also exploring molecular mechanisms underlying renal and neurological disorders. A key direction involves developing advanced surgical technologies, including vision-based instrument tracking for robotic minimally invasive surgery, to improve clinical safety and precision. The lab also conducts clinical and molecular studies on biomarkers and protein interactions, such as TTYH2 and β-COP, to uncover novel therapeutic targets in cancer and kidney disease.
