Professor Jin Han Lee's research lab specializes in reliability-based engineering, with a strong focus on predictive maintenance and risk assessment in critical infrastructure systems. The lab conducts advanced research in railway vehicle wheel health monitoring using sensor-based data and machine learning, as well as in the reliability analysis of industrial piping systems subjected to time-dependent degradation such as corrosion. Additionally, the lab investigates safety-critical systems in the process and energy industries, including gas dispersion modeling from LPG storage facilities and infection control in dental healthcare environments. The lab integrates experimental, computational, and statistical methodologies to enhance system safety, reliability, and operational efficiency.

배관설계에 있어 스트레스에 기반한 결정론적 방법이 전통적으로 사용되어 왔다. 한편, 신뢰도기반 설계 및 평가(RBDA) 방법론은 해양 또는 원자력 구조물에 대해 적용되어 왔다. 최근 들어 배관의 한계상태법에 기반한 신뢰도에 대해 ISO 규격 즉, ISO 16708의 출간은 RDBA 방법론이 천연가스배관 설계의 최신방향 중에 하나라는 것을 보여준다. 본 논문은 부식결함을 가진 배관의 시간 의존적 파손 확률을 예측하는 절차에 대한 사례연구를 보여준다. 여기서 전통적인 부식 배관의 신뢰도를 추정하는 데 crude Monte Carlo (CMC) 법을 사용하는 대신에 separable Monte Carlo (SMC) method 적용한다. 그 결과 SMC 방법은 신뢰도 계산에 효율을 향상시키는 장점을 보여준다. LPG 저장설비에 부착된 압력방출밸브 방출관으로부터 분출된 가스의 확산에 대해 검토하였다. 통상 방출관은 안전한 장소인 수직 상방향으로 분출되도록 설치되어야 하며, 방출된 가스가 착화되더라도 저장탱크, 장치, 배관에 화염이 닿지 않도록 설치되어야 한다[1][2]. 그러나 우리나라에서는 방출구를 통한 분출방향에 대한 기준이 없이 다양한 방출구 형태가 존재한다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 4가지 방출방향 즉 수직상방, 수직하방, 수평 2, 수직 4방향에 대해서 고려하였다. 방출구로부터 분출된 가스의 확산 시뮬레이션은 상용소프트웨어인 FLACS를 사용하였다. 이를 통해 수직하방, 수평 2, 수직 4방향으로 분출하도록 방출구를 설치하는 것은 지면에서의 착화를 방지하는 데 불리한 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 안전밸브로부터 분출된 가스를 방출구를 통해 안전하게 분출하기 위해서는 수직상방으로 분출되는 것이 최선임을 알 수 있었다. The Bi 3.30 La 0.70 Ti 3 O 12 thin film capacitor showed better ferroelectric properties than other films with different compositions.
