본 연구는 현대 사회의 다원적 관점을 반영한 경제 환경 속에서, 초등 사회과 지역화 교재를 개발하고 적용 가능한 교육 모델을 제시하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 이를 위해 브레너(Neil Brenner)의 다중스케일 이론과 TPSN 프레임워크(Territory-Place-Scale-Network)를 이론적 기반으로 삼아, 부산 지역을 중심으로 한 수업 사례를 설계하였다. 2022 개정 초등 사회과 교육 과정 분석 결과, 3~4학년군의 ‘지역 간 교류’와 5~6학년군의 ‘국가 간 무역’ 사이에는 학습자가 지역 시장에서 글로벌 무역으로 연결되는 중간 과정을 경험하지 못하는 구조적 한계가 확인되었다. 이를 해결하기 위해, 3~4학년군에는 지역 경제 체험에서 점진적으로 국제 무역으로 확장하는 상향 확장 모델을, 5~6학년군에는 글로벌 무역 현상에서 지역 경제에 미치는 영향을 역추적하는 하향 연결 모델을 개발하였다. 두 모델 모두 학년군별 인지발달 특성을 고려하여 TPSN 네 차원을 통합적으로
