Jong Won Hong, Won Jai Lee, Seung Boem Hahn, Bom Jin Kim, Dae Hyun Lew
SJR Q2Annals of Plastic SurgeryOA

Human placenta had been used on wound healing such as burns, chronic ulcers, and skin defects. Recently, human placenta has been widely used in the form of human placental extracts (HPE) by clinical field. However, it is unclear what the effect of HPE is on wound healing. We studied the effect and mechanism of HPE on wound healing. In this study, 10 mice (imprinting control region mice, 5 week old males, 30 g) were divided into an experimental group and a control group. An 8-mm diameter single fu

Immune Tolerance of Human Dental Pulp-Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells Mediated by CD4+CD25+ FoxP3+ Regulatory T-Cells and Induced by TGF-β1 and IL-10
Jong Won Hong, Jung Hyun Lim, Chooryung J. Chung, Tae Jo Kang, Tae Yeon Kim, Young Seok Kim, Tai Suk Roh, Dae Hyun Lew
SJR Q2Yonsei Medical JournalOA

DP-MSCs can modulate immune tolerance by increasing CD4⁺CD25⁺FoxP3⁺ Tregs. TGF-β1 and IL-10 are factors in the immune-tolerance mechanism. Pure DP-MSC therapy may not be an effective treatment for rejection, although it may module immune tolerance in vivo.

Jong Won Hong, Young Seok Kim, Won Jai Lee, Hyun Joon Hong, Tai Suk Roh, Seung Yong Song
SJR Q2Journal of Craniofacial SurgeryOA

The authors carried out microsurgical training using a protocol that added the time factor to the conventional evaluation studies. Microsurgical practice with pig legs statistically saves time and improves the skill in 3 full procedures including 5 practice end-to-end arterial anastomoses. This is an effective and economic method of developing the basic techniques performed during anastomosis procedures.

SJR Q1The LaryngoscopeOA

OBJECTIVES/HYPOTHESIS: Management of unrecognized recurrent laryngeal nerve injury typically entails delayed phonosurgical intervention and laryngeal reinnervation, but in cases of recognized injury, nerve anastomosis has been considered standard management. However, the well-organized outcome analysis of nerve anastomosis has been insufficient. We performed immediate direct anastomosis of recurrent laryngeal nerves injured during surgery for thyroid cancer, and subsequent patient outcomes were

Hypopharyngeal Reconstruction Using Remnant Narrow Pharyngeal Wall as Omega-Shaped Radial Forearm Free Flap
Jong Won Hong, Hii Sun Jeong, Dae Hyun Lew, Tai Suk Roh, Kwan Chul Tark, Eun Chang Choi, Won Jai Lee
SJR Q2Journal of Craniofacial SurgeryOA

We performed all surgeries taking care not to transgress the wide excision principle with the remnant hypopharyngeal wall. For remnant lesions greater than 3 cm, patch-type RFFF was performed, whereas for those less than 3 cm, omega-shaped RFFF was done. We achieved fairly good results in both groups without total resection of the narrow remnant hypopharyngeal wall.

SJR Q2Journal of Craniofacial SurgeryOA

INTRODUCTION: Traditionally, galeal flap or cranialization was often used to reconstruct the skull base defect caused by trauma or tumor removal. However, in the case of huge skull base defect, galeal flap is not enough to block the communication between nasal cavity and intracranial space. In this study, authors suggest combination flap of galea and reverse temporalis muscle as a method for reconstruction of huge skull base defect. MATERIALS AND METHODS: From 2016 to 2019, retrospective review

Jong Won Hong, Seung Yong Song, Dae Gon Woo, Han Sung Kim, Hyun Joon Hong, Joong Ho Choi, Beyoung Yun Park, Yong Oock Kim
SJR Q2Journal of Craniofacial SurgeryOA

In this study, the concept of TDDO and bone graft seemed to promote new bone formation. The role of the TD could include bone regeneration from distraction osteogenesis as well as autogenous bone graft, although it needs more investigation. The relationship between the duration of distraction and the positive role of the TD as an autogenous bone graft in TDDO for better clinical application may be investigated.
