About the Lab
Professor Jong Woon Park's research lab specializes in regenerative medicine and biomedical engineering, with a primary focus on peripheral nerve repair and regeneration. The lab develops advanced tissue-engineered nerve grafts using synthetic biomaterials such as electrospun poly(lactide-co-ε-caprolactone) membranes and collagen hydrogel-grafted nerve guidance conduits to overcome the limitations of autologous nerve grafts. Additionally, the lab applies cutting-edge technologies like machine learning and wearable sensors to enhance rehabilitation outcomes, including gait analysis using low-frequency IMU sensors. The integration of bioengineering, clinical applications, and smart health technologies defines the lab’s multidisciplinary approach.

This study investigates the role of extracellular SOD (EC-SOD), the major extracellular antioxidant enzyme, in skeletal muscle ischemia and reperfusion (I/R) injury. Bortezomib effectively blocks nuclear factor-kappaB activation in attenuating muscle reperfusion injury through inhibiting nuclear factor-kappaB inhibitory protein degradation.
