Professor Joo Sung Kim's research lab focuses on the molecular mechanisms underlying intestinal inflammation, colorectal cancer, and metabolic disorders, with a central emphasis on the role of nuclear factor-kappaB (NF-κB) signaling in disease pathogenesis. The lab investigates the chemopreventive and anti-inflammatory effects of repurposed drugs—such as statins, metformin, and natural compounds like luteolin—on colorectal carcinogenesis and inflammatory bowel disease.
