About the Lab
Professor Jooeun Sung's research lab focuses on sustainable urban living, with an emphasis on human-environment interactions, interspecies coexistence in cities, and age-inclusive community design. The lab explores how physical and social environments shape human and animal behavior in urban spaces, particularly through the lens of sustainability, neighborhood identity, and inclusive urban planning. Using mixed-methods approaches such as photovoice, spatial analysis (e.g., DepthmapX), and cognitive mapping, the lab investigates everyday mobility, social connection, and the role of built environments in fostering well-being across diverse populations, including the elderly and pet-owning households.

Method: Using photovoice methodology, seven dog owners in Seoul participated in a two-month qualitative study. Participants captured photographs during routine walks bas
