About the Lab
Professor Joowon Lee's research lab specializes in advanced materials and energy conversion technologies, with a strong focus on photoelectrochemical systems for sustainable energy applications. The lab investigates 1D nanostructured photoelectrodes and up-conversion materials to enhance solar-driven water splitting for hydrogen production. In parallel, the lab explores bioactive compounds such as glabridin for metabolic disorder treatment, demonstrating a multidisciplinary approach bridging materials science and biomedical applications. The integration of behavioral analytics in mobile advertising further reflects the lab’s interest in human-centered technology applications.

15As with all forms of advertising, exposure is a necessary prerequisite for Internet banner ad effectiveness. However, exposure does not guarantee a user's attention, an issue especially relevant to the Internet, where ad avoidance occurs most frequently. And if an ad is noticed, the message may or may not remain in the consumer's memory after cognitive processing. However, even if the advertising message is not consciously remembered, the exposure can be unconsciously processed and subsequently
In this study, we demonstrate that activation of AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) with glabridin alleviates adiposity and hyperlipidemia in obesity. In several obese rodent models, glabridin decreased body weight and adiposity with a concomitant reduction in fat cell size. Further, glabridin ameliorated fatty liver and plasma levels of triglyceride and cholesterol. In accordance with these findings, glabridin suppressed the expression of lipogenic genes such as sterol regulatory element bindi
This review highlights the research on 1D nanostructured photoelectrodes for solar-driven PEC water splitting based on various strategies to enhance their performances.
App install advertising not only serves as a revenue source for mobile app developers and mobile ad platforms, but also is considered an effective channel for app exposure to mobile app users. Owing to their benefits to the main players, such ads are the driving force of mobile advertising growth. For the purpose of improving the effectiveness of app install ads, this study investigated how to select potential active users for advertised apps based on users’ previous app usage behaviors. By anal

ABSTRACT
Giving free game items to mobile users through in-app reward advertisements could generate a sampling effect and increase the probability of users making in-app purchases. By analyzing field data on user-level game-app usage behavior, the current researchers found that users who were offered a free game item as a reward more likely would purchase the game item. Existing users who already had purchased game items also made more subsequent purchases after experiencing the free ga
IR-driven photoelectrochemical cells were developed using up-conversion glass-ceramics as substrates.
The performance of transparent organic light-emitting diodes (TOLEDs) that use a combination of organic and inorganic capping layers (CLs) is reported. The first organic layer on top of the transparent cathode was used to increase the light output of the normally directed emission toward the top direction. The second layer, which had high-refractive-index inorganic materials on top of the first organic layer, was used as a reflector to enhance the efficiency of the bottom direction by taking advan
Against recent cyber-attack strategies on networked control systems which commonly utilize information of control data, the notion of encrypted control system has been introduced, to protect private data in the network layer by encryption. However, even though the adversary cannot learn the information from the encrypted control signals or parameters, it is known that their values can be manipulated by the adversaries, based on homomorphic property of the cryptosystem. In this paper, we demonstr
The various fabrication methods with growth mechanisms and possible applications of semiconductor 1-D nanostructure arrays are systematically reviewed.
