About the Lab
Professor Ju-hyun Song's research lab focuses on developmental psychology and neurobiological mechanisms underlying child behavior, emotion regulation, and social development. The lab investigates how emotion regulation, temperament, and family dynamics—particularly coparenting and maternal emotion socialization—shape prosocial and aggressive behaviors in children across early and middle childhood. Additionally, the lab explores the neurobiological underpinnings of neural stem cell differentiation in stroke recovery, linking inflammation and stress signaling pathways to therapeutic outcomes. The research integrates physiological measures, longitudinal designs, and multi-informant assessments to understand developmental cascades and individual differences.

This study examined how coparenting and firstborn children's temperament predicted children's cooperative behavior in response to maternal requests for assistance in the care of a 1-month-old infant sibling.
