Voice analysis is a safe, noninvasive, and reliable screening tool for patients with dysphagia and can detect patients at high risk of clinically significant aspiration, thereby augmenting clinical bedside examination.
The prevalence of spasticity in stroke patients transferred to our Department of Rehabilitation Medicine was 42.4%. NIHSS scores, nonoperative treatment, and low Motricity Index scores were significantly predictive of spasticity. A nonspastic group showed greater functional improvement during rehabilitation.

The bolus volume was shown to have significant effect on pharyngeal pressure and timing, but the texture did not show any effect on pharyngeal swallowing. The parameters of HRM were more sensitive than those of kinematic analysis. As the parameters of HRM are based on precise anatomic structure and the kinematic analysis reflects the actions of multiple anatomic structures, HRM and VFSS should be used according to their purposes.
In summary, the phenotype of neuropathic pain was associated with the efficacy of different pharmacologic treatments. Symptom-based treatment, therefore, can lead to more efficient analgesia.
