About the Lab
Professor Jun-seob Ahn's research lab focuses on infectious disease epidemiology and clinical microbiology, with a strong emphasis on antimicrobial resistance, particularly methicillin-resistant *Staphylococcus aureus* (MRSA), and emerging viral infections such as SARS-CoV-2 and *Plasmodium vivax* malaria. The lab conducts multinational surveillance studies and molecular epidemiological investigations to understand the transmission dynamics, antimicrobial susceptibility, and long-term trends of infectious diseases in clinical and community settings. Their work also includes evaluating diagnostic virology, viral clearance patterns, and the impact of public health interventions such as chemoprophylaxis in military and endemic populations.

The aim of this study was to compare the serum cytokine profiles of Plasmodium vivax malaria patients who presented with and without hepatic dysfunction.
