About the Lab
Professor Jun Yup Kim's research lab focuses on stroke epidemiology, acute stroke care, and the psychosocial aspects of neurological diseases, with a strong emphasis on improving clinical outcomes through evidence-based medicine and patient-centered interventions. The lab conducts large-scale population-based studies, clinical trials, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance stroke prevention, management, and rehabilitation in Korea. Research also extends to the psychological impact of chronic illnesses, such as breast cancer, highlighting the integration of psychosocial support in medical care. This study describes the current status of acute stroke care in Korea. Despite quite acceptable quality of stroke care, it suggests regional and hospital disparities. Expansion of stroke units, stroke center certification or accreditation, and connections between stroke centers and emergency medical services are highly recommended.
Annual EVT case volume was associated with 1-year mortality. The volume threshold per hospital was 15 cases per year.
The fasting and non-fasting hypertriglyceridemia were prevalent in AIS patients and showed similar clinical characteristics and outcomes. High FTG and NFTG levels were not associated with occurrence of subsequent clinical events up to one year.
